The rich history of fado is matched by the story of a longstanding singer, Argentina Santos. Born 85 years ago in the same cradle as the popular music, she kept on the path of thugs and fishwives, singing illegal songs on the streets and bringing along the popular art everywhere she went. Her life is a sad song of the beautiful fado. By keeping largely unknown for so long, she is now seen as a great performer that stand on the right side of tradition and is hailed as an example for the future.
