El Gusto (Good humor) characterizes the Chaâbi musical style, popular music invented in the mid-1920s in the heart of the Casbah of Algiers by the great musician of the time, El Anka. She punctuates the childhood of her young students at the Conservatory, Arab or Jewish. Friendship and their common love for this music which "makes us forget poverty, hunger, thirst" brought them together for years within the same orchestra until the Algerian liberation war and its upheavals. El Gusto, Algerian Buena Vista Social Club, tells with emotion and... good humor how music brought together those whom History separated 50 years ago.
