Arieba and Mahnaz live in the shadow of war. As Pakistanis in the turbulent Kashmir region, they live in the birthplace of global jihad. And yet, to see this family in its idyllic mountain home, is to see a family untouched by violence. Healthy, happy, and devout, their children's eyes sparkle with the same mischievous energy that we see in our own children. 'So these big people in their big countries, why do they fight?' Mahnaz asks her niece, who was orphaned not by a bomb but by an earthquake. 'They are very fond of fighting,' is the five-year-old's uncomprehending reply. Surprisingly, these neighbors of war have found a genuine peace.
