Based on eyewitness accounts and tells the story of six children who, during the German occupation of Denmark, were deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp with their families. Birgit, Bjørn, Jytte, Poul, Rachel and Salle were among the approx. 500 Danish Jews who failed to escape to Sweden and thus avoid Nazi captivity. Their stories are about anxiety, deprivation, hunger, cruelty and loss, but also about friendship, love and hope. The accounts intertwine with the history of Denmark's occupation, Europe at war and the Holocaust - the Nazis' attempt to exterminate the European Jews.
