Outside the snowy town of Grants, New Mexico, is a 22 million ton pile of highly radioactive uranium byproduct, known as tailings. Grants used to be the uranium capital of the world, but today, after 50 years of contamination, the waste has deeply contaminated the air and water outside town. Now, new companies are trying to mine the rich uranium in the area, promising jobs and safety. While those in town want the prosperity that new mining would bring, the 200 residents who live near the tailings pile have had enough of the uranium mining legacy TAILINGS is filmmaker Sam Price-Waldman's own narrated exploration into the conflict, told through personal, cinematic scenes and archival footage of the early uranium boom.
