Sign (2011)

Watanabe is a former professional baseball player. At one point he enjoyed great success with his submarine delivery. Injury, however, forces him to retire. The path he chooses is to apply to graduate school and figure out what to do with the rest of his life. On the day admissions are to be announced, however, he is so scared of not having been admitted that he can not bring himself to go see the admissions announcement board. That is when Watanabe meets Yoichi, who is looking for a job. Yoichi had been a fan of Watanabe's. Not knowing that Watanabe had retired, and his job search faring poorly, Yoichi asks Watanabe to light a fire under him. Put in the position of helping Yoichi, Watanabe recovers the inspiration he had himself lost at some point. Told that he is a person who 'never gives up', Watanabe is reminded of his own approach to life, and signs 'Never Give Up' on Yoichi's back. Watanabe himself then recovers his nerve and is able to make his way toward the admissions announcement board.
