Miguel, a ten-year-old boy, witnesses as his grandfather murders one of his pawns attributing him a theft, being the grandson himself who did it. Guilt haunts the child to such a degree that ends up confessing the crime to Teresa, the servant of his grandfather, who takes the news badly and threatens to accuse Miguel, however, the child goes unpunished once his mother arrives to the farm and takes the boy with her. In the end, the grandfather makes a terrible confession to Teresa: He always knew about his grandson's crime, it was all part of a rough lesson in manhood.
