Gelsenkirchen, 1979. Three employees of a photo laboratory found out by chance that they were paid much less for their work than their male colleagues. Lilli and her two friends want to do something about it, since the Basic Law already states that men and women have equal rights. The three already have enough problems. Lilli struggles with the frustrated father of her two children, her narcissistic mother Charly, unpaid bills and a broken car. Rosi works secretly and against her husband's will in order to maintain the ideal image of family happiness, because her husband Wolfgang's money is not sufficient for her standard of living. And after the death of her husband, Gerda eked out a very lonely existence in her gazebo. But the women no longer want to be bullied, they collect signatures and sue their employer with the help of works council member Ritschi and the union. In doing so, they not only mess with the entire executive floor of their company, but also with the male colleagues in the company and their families. Eventually, the women get into arguments with each other. But one alone cannot do it. Only together do they stand a chance.
