The Farewell (2019)

Billi is a Chinese-American girl dealing with her family's decision to keep her grandmother, Nai Nai's, terminal cancer diagnosis as a secret. Billi embarks on a trip to China where a fake wedding serves as an excuse for the entire family to share time with Nai Nai, who is unaware of her own illness. The film explores honestly yet without solemnity the sense of loss, family bonds and their cultural dimension, with a great performance by Awkwafina and the entire cast.
