Slim (James Arthur Williams) is a purveyor of illegal products, happily making money off the addictions of others in his urban neighborhood. His childhood friend, PT (Ashante P.T. Stokes), now an entertainer, shows up asking him to critique PT's latest rhythm and gospel song. At first reluctant, Slim does listen to a portion one-on-one with PT and then later allows his crew to listen to a portion of the song as well. Those hearing the beat of the song, dance to the music except for Slim who counts his money from the current day's transactions. PT is still pleased with the fact Slim listened and liked the song that he invites Slim to join him at the next bible study. Slim refuses. Slim's girlfriend comes to get him and PT and Slim part company. Shortly after, Slim receives a call that forces him to exam the life he has built for himself. In the bonus footage during the end credits, Slim trying to compose himself at home, gives PT a call. Praise the Maker is the first of a planned trilogy of animated music mini films based on the lyrical themes of praise, salvation and testimony.
