Roman Polanski and Ryszard Horowitz came to Poland to share with us the most personal memories from their childhood and youth. While walking the streets of Cracow, they revisit the past and recall the very difficult time in their lives, during the Holocaust, when they met in the Jewish ghetto established by the Nazis. They tell the story of survival - how, as a child, Horowitz became one of the youngest kids rescued by Oscar Schindler and how Polanski hid in a small village after escaping the ghetto, in the house of a poor peasant family. And even though they have always been different - their passion has kept them together. They skipped school to go to the movies, developed their first photographs and fell in love with art. In the grim reality of communist Poland, against the governments' wish, they kept learning about great artists, discovered the beauty of jazz and began to think about leaving the country. Since Polanski left Cracow to make films and Horowitz fled to New York to pursue his career in photography, they have never got a chance to see each other back in Poland. Now, after almost 60 years, they come back to see all the places that made them who they are today.
