It's December 15th, 1966, the day Walt Disney died. Ira, Al, and Gene Grady have just buried their mother and arrive home to find a 24 hour eviction notice. The brothers, aspiring country musicians, have been waiting for days to hear back from Country Ray, their favorite radio disk jockey down in Fort Worth, Texas, about the demo they submitted to KSPC Radio's "Early Morning Radio Jamboree." With nowhere to live and no parental figure to offer them guidance, the three young men decide to follow their dreams, pack their belongings into suitcases, and drive to Fort Worth whether they hear from Country Ray or not. Before leaving town, Ira, hell bent on revenge, convinces Al and Gene to rob Alabaster Albrecht--the man Ira blames for the death of their parents and the loss of their childhood home.
