Vacant (2018)

'The care system that created me, will not define me.' Growing up in foster care is hard. You are expected to grow up a certain way, you're expected to be this person you don't even know. This short film, follows a story throughout a young childs life, growing into an adult, in the care system. You often hear stories of what happens in foster care, but have you ever felt that emotional pain? You have never felt what it's like not to be able to feel. Vacant will be hard to watch, and it will be hard to hear. But this is something that needs to be spoken about. This is something that is happening to thousands of children throughout the world, this is how we feel. We are from the care system, that is all, that doesn't define us, become a better person than anyone expected you to be. You've a foster parent, but do you really understand what we feel, or more importantly, how we aren't able to feel? This is an opportunity to enlighten, and teach, and empower. This is a time to share.
