Sour Blood (2018)

Marcus Tavers roams the streets of Hollywood on Halloween night with a cameraman in tow; he is ostensibly shooting a Youtube video in search of random adventures with creatures of the night. Before long, he runs into an old friend from acting class named Manny Jones who is dressed as Elvis Presley and busking for cash. The two struggling actors decide to hang out and see what the night brings. As they set off down the boulevard, Marcus brags of his time as a principal on the CW vampire series Sour Blood, and Jones is duly impressed. In time, Jones parks himself on a busy street corner and proceeds to blow the crowd away with a raucous improvised tune about the outrageous sites of All Hallows Eve. As a result, he pulls in some pretty decent cash. With the night wearing down, the two comrades grab a beer. Marcus is taken aback to learn that Jones' acting prospects are currently brighter than his own. Soon, Jones discovers his money is missing, and he asks Marcus if he stole it. Marcus is outraged and hurt that Jones would even suggest such a thing. But for all of his recriminations, it's fairly apparent Marcus did indeed take the money. The evening of fun and games comes to an ignominious end as the two actors bid a savage farewell and walk in opposite directions. There is an acute sense of ennui and dread as Marcus contemplates his transgression upon his old friend. But there is also a sense of optimism as Marcus is still in Hollywood, a city where anything is possible.
