Yevgeny Berner and his parents immigrated to the United States as refugees from Ukraine (then part of the former Soviet Union) in the late 1970s to escape communist oppression and religious persecution. Although drama/acting was a first love and passion for Yevgeny in the U.S., Yevgeny (aka "Jack", translated from his Ukrainian nickname "Djecka"), pursued the legal profession with vigor hoping to establish a name for himself as a first generation immigrant with all the responsibility that comes with that. He has worked in the legal field since the age of 16, including the last 23 years as a prominent trial attorney in the Pacific Northwest. Jack's mother, Hanna, passed away too soon from cancer in 2022, having fought the battle for half of her life. She had always wanted to be an actress herself, having been inspired by her idol and physical twin Sophia Loren, but never had a chance to do so, including due to her cancer battle. Jack took up the acting mantle once more with a fury partly to honor his late mom. Jack's film credits to date include Break the Cycle, I Want to Jump, Twitter Files, Best Supporting Actors (for which he is also a Co-Executive Producer), and, most recently, Finding Astrea. Jack is also involved in social activism, particularly on behalf of pro-Ukraine relief organizations.
