Youssef Faisal

Youssef Faisal is an activist of the communist movement in Syria. Faisal was born in Homs. Graduated from Damascus University. A pharmacist by education. Member of the Syrian Communist Party since 1942. In 1951-54 - candidate member of the Central Committee, since 1958 - member of the Central Committee, since 1962 - member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Syrian Communist Party. In 1969-74 - Secretary of the Central Committee of the SCP, in 1974-86 - deputy General Secretary of the Central Committee of the SCP. In 1986, Youssef Faisal headed one of the two groups formed in the SCP. In 1970-72 - Minister of State in the Syrian government.
