Imants Daudiss was born in Riga. In 1950, his family moved to Valmiera, where he graduated from the 1st secondary school. In 1963, Daudiss entered the Ivanovo Institute of Chemical Technology and graduated in 1968 with a diploma in industrial engineering. Daudiss improved his knowledge at US Congress courses on legislative technology, Crisis Management courses, and courses on basic issues of parliamentary work in Ottawa (Canada). He started working immediately after graduating from the institute - since 1968 he worked at the Riga Chemical Plant. From 1970 to 1980, he collaborated in Komsomol structures and the Communist Party. Since 1980, Daudiss has been the first deputy of the state committee for publishing, printing and bookselling. In 1989, he was elected to the post of Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Latvian SSR. In the late 80s, he participated in the actions of the People's Front of Latvia, and in cooperation with the electoral center of the People's Front, he helped organize the elections of the new Supreme Council. From the People's Front, Daudiss was elected to the Supreme Council, where he worked from 1990 to 1993 - at the first meeting of the Supreme Council, on March 3, 1990, he was elected secretary of the council. In 1993, Daudiss participated in the formation of the 'Latvian Way' association, and was elected as a deputy of the Seimas of the 5th convocation and secretary of the parliament. In 1995, from the 'Latvian Way' he was elected as a deputy and secretary of the Seimas of the 6th convocation. Since 1997, Daudiss has been the Ambassador of Latvia to Russia. In the 'Latvian Way' association he held the position of member of the board and secretary of foreign affairs.
