Abhiroop Basu

ABHIROOP BASU, is an award-winning Director and Screenwriter based out of Calcutta. A student of South Point High School and St. Xavier's College Calcutta, Abhiroop went on to study films at the prestigious Prague Film School, Czech Republic and further did a masterclass on screenwriting with Iranian Filmmaker Mani Haghighi. Abhiroop was also chosen to take part in a select international filmmaking program at Alt Studio Tuscany, Italy. His last two films titled 'Meal' and 'Laali' had Adil Hussain and Pankaj Tripathi in titular roles which went to over 70 International Film festivals and fetched awards and accolades worldwide. Recently he completed his passion project titled 'Gudgudi' starring Rajshri Deshpande based on a true incident from the Gujarat Riots of 2002 (in post production). Apart from that, Abhiroop has co-written a show for Netflix helmed by Bejoy Nambiar and he is currently developing his feature with a leading Production House from Mumbai.
