Rose Marie Barrett was born on September 17, 1970, in Muskegon, MI. Her father, Claud, was a Millwright and is of English and Irish descent. Her mother, Judith (Lang-Wahr) was Native American, and is the reason for Rose's unique look. Rose has three older brothers, Mikeal, Douglas and Fred. Her childhood nicknames were "Rosie" and "Chickywing". Rose was bitten by the acting bug in high school when she starred as Jo in "Little Women". She graduated from White Lake Christian High school in 1988. She was discovered while visiting friends in the nation's capital. She stumbled upon her first on-screen role, alongside Harry Hamlin, in Favorite Son (1988). She next worked in Chicago in several uncredited roles on and off the stage, including with Donny Osmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1999), which later was made into a film. She worked extensively on stage for many years. Though her first love is the stage, she has enjoyed several movie experiences. Life moved her to Austin, Texas where she completed her BFA at University of Texas. While in school, she met Richard Linklater and landed a bit part in Dazed and Confused (1993), alongside such contemporaries as Matthew McConaughey, Cole Hauser and Renée Zellweger. She later went on to land a small role in Hope Floats (1998), starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr.. Rose later returned to her hometown to raise a family.
