Scotland Isabel Squire, known as Scotty, was born in the USA in March 1972. She became Yes bassist, Chris Squire's girlfriend in 2004, following the failure of his second marriage, to actress Melissa Morgan. The pair lived together briefly in Paddington, London in 2005 before moving to Kings Road, Chelsea. Scotty and Chris were married by the time Chris released his 2007 Christmas album "Swiss Choir", released on his own record label Stone Ghost Entertainment. Scotty helped with admin. In addition to their Chelsea property, they owned a property in Chandler, Arizona. Scotty became pregnant in 2008, giving birth prematurely to daughter Xilan in December. Scotty also had a grown-up daughter, CJ, from a previous relationship in the USA. Scotty and Xilan went on the road with Chris on his numerous Yes tours between 2009 and 2014. In 2013, Chris was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent radiation therapy. After recovering, he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in 2015. He was hospitalized in Arizona and died there on 27 June. Upon his death, Scotty inherited directorship of his company Squire Music Limited. Following Chris' tragic death, relationships between Scotty and Chris' family in London deteriorated. However, she was invited to attend a Yes concert in Arizona by Chris' band-mates. A year after her husband's death, Scotty shared memories of his last Fathers' Day, on 21 June 2015, just five days before he died: "Xilan was not allowed to come into the area where Chris' room was to see him. (So, they hadn't seen each other for a long time.) Chris missed her so much and his nurse that day saw how much he was hurting not seeing her. (He talked about Xilan to all his nurses.) The nurse was amazing and told us if Xi got to the hospital right away (CJ drove her) then the nurse would sneak Xi into Chris' hospital room to see him. You should have seen Chris light up. He got out of his bed and I made it for him and got him all cleaned up and the room looking good for Xilan (removed any scary hospital / sick person items.) Chris put on Cartoon Network for her and sat in a chair and waited for her. As soon as Xilan arrived, the nurse got her scrubbed up and into a mask before entering the area Chris' room was in. The nurse had to sneak her in behind a blanket that she was carrying down the hallway. Xilan was all dressed up and had made a card for Chris. The first thing she said to Chris when she walked in his room was...."I know you haven't been watching Cartoon Network." And then they just hugged. They were each wearing their masks and they kissed each other. It was the sweetest thing. We will forever be grateful to the most wonderful nurse for the cool thing she did for a father and his baby girl. It was the last time Xilan got to see Chris." In April 2017, Yes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Chris' posthumous award was collected on his behalf by Scotty and their daughter Xilan, aged 8 at the time. Scotty and Xilan went up on stage alongside Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Alan White and Trevor Rabin, all of whom gave speeches. Scotty had prepared some words about Chris, however, due to Wakeman overrunning, she was not able to speak. Tony Kaye was also inducted but was unable to attend but was not represented or acknowledged at the awards ceremony. In her own words: "I was supposed to talk after Rick. He said he was going to introduce me. I had a very nice speech prepared to honor Chris, and Xilan and I wanted on Chris' behalf to thank everyone, especially the fans (but mainly Xi and I wanted to honor Chris for the great musician he was.) I am not here to blame anyone for why we didn't get to speak, but there are time constraints with these shows and the whole time Rick was talking there was a monitor flashing "wrap it up". Also, for the record, I didn't refuse to go up and talk. After Rick was done he handed me the award but everyone was just being ushered off stage. The whole thing was awkward. I know Rick's heart and he didn't do anything to dis me, Xilan or Chris. I think it was just not planned very well. I really should have gone and spoken before Rick....because how do you follow that act anyway. This is all written with love in my heart." Around this time, Scotty allegedly told ex-Yes members Anderson, Wakeman and Rabin - then in Yes spin-off band Anderson Rabin Wakeman (ARW) that, following her husband's death, the group had as much right to the name as the official Yes - with Howe and White - which Chris Squire had been part of from 2008 to 2015. As a consequence, ARW renamed themselves Yes featuring Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman.
