Kaitlyn McCary was born in Lexington, SC to Angela Ward, a homemaker, and Robert Steven McCary, a roofing company founder. She is of Native American, German, and Scotch-Irish descent and was raised in Black Mountain, NC. By the age of 13, she discovered her passion for singing and was a member of Charles D. Owen High's Chamber Chorale for three years. She began her passion in the film industry in her high school drama class, under Lynn Nihart and then went on to take classes at The Actors Center of Asheville, under Kevin Patrick Murphy. Since then, she has appeared in short films and other projects. She is best known for playing a werewolf in Legacies (2018) and working on The Ebbing (2019) by Jennifer Trudrung.
