Otto Hernandez is a Canadian Actor currently residing in Toronto. He is trained in the Meisner technique in acting, something he is very passionate about. His background is Latino and he hails from Guatemala, Central America. Mr. Hernandez has a Radio and Television Broadcasting degree from Seneca College. Out of his co op days in school he landed a Disc Jockey job at CHIN International Radio in Toronto. A very well known community radio channel that has grown in both am and the FM frequencies, both founded and run by Mr. Johnny Lombardi of Toronto. Otto was the DJ for many different languages on air on both am and FM radio. Great experience, awesome music and lots of fun ! This eventually led to someone giving Otto his own Saturday night radio show on the AM station. Mr Hernandez was one of the first to play dance music on air in Toronto in 1989-90. Way before any other commercial radio station in Toronto, he even started to receive fan phone calls from the United States as the am frequency can have a farther reach than FM radio. First to play house music, techno, mixes, hip hop and have guest Dj Medicine Muffin, aka Ricardo Bullen. A pioneer in radio indeed ! Mr. Hernandez moved out to Vancouver, BC for a change, he also worked in radio there, also other jobs, but eventually came home after one year in Vancouver, regrettably leaving behind some very good new friends. Toronto is home. Eventually getting married and becoming a stepfather to a boy and a father to his own daughter, he works in the print industry and data communication sector. Regrettably his marriage fails and he is left distraught. The pain of saying goodbye to his daughter to this day still haunts him....he knows he wont' get to see her everyday and watch her grow up, not the same as every other weekend he is given. Eventually Mr.Hernandez finds his way back to life through dance and begins to 'improve' his salsa dancing and enrolls into a dance school. He is a natural and picks it up quickly catching the eye of the owner and making him, her new performer and helper. The two would go on to perform on stage for the Salsa on St,. Clair street festival in Toronto, which draws crowds of up to 500,000. Over a weekend of performances and selling their dance lessons. They also performed as the opening act for famous Latin singer GIlberto Santa Rosa at the Docks, in front of thousands of guests. They were featured on TeleLatino in Toronto for the Luminato Festival and went to and from Ottawa via CN Rail special vintage party train all shot for TLN. Like the four seasons in Canada, change is inevitable as was the case for Mr. Hernandez. Those contract office jobs. The petty office culture. The no benefits gigs, which were all, eventually got to him and he became a Fitness and Zumba Instructor. Bodybuilding and fitness have always been Otto's passions. He loves the way it makes you feel, how you can change your body, which leads to more confidence. He was very happy to see so many of his students make great changes and they were so happy. No wonder his Zumba classes were always full. he worked for the city of Toronto in various locations throughout the city, his favorite of course was City Hall. This is where he met the infamous Mayor Rob Ford and got his autograph ! Mr. Hernandez moved on his own and was back to the mediocre office jobs again. It was when his contract was terminated, that it was the fuel and time to pursue his new and relevant passion, acting. Always diving in and taking chances Mr. Hernandez brings alot of life experience and relevance to his own performer status unbeknownst to him, making his performances to always seek the truth as taught in his love for the Meisner technique. His experiences are what brings this man to this medium and ability to adapt so easily. Big things are waiting for this man, one to keep an eye on !
