Eddie Star was born in London, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He started playing guitar at 7, and got his first electric guitar at 13, after being inspired by bands like Generation X, The Sex Pistols, and Stooges. Star got his start in the music industry at 17 when he started working with Producer Arthur G. Wright (Billy Preston, The Righteous Bros., Ike & Tina Turner). Recording began at Quad Tech Studios in Los Angeles in 1987 on Star's debut album. It would not be until 1995 while writing songs, and recording in various studios in the San Fernando Valley with Producer/Musician Fred Schreuders (Hiroshima), that his career would start coming together. Those four songs led to an album, Generation Zero, and the formation of Eddie Star & The Zero Effect. The band played consistent dates, but without support from management, and no release date for their album, broke up after a gig at the Whisky-a-go-go in March of 1999. Undeterred, Star began working with musician Bob Mars on a series of recordings that were initially for a solo album. Looking for a fresh start, Star moved to New York in 2002 and began working with music industry veteran, Gary S. Monroe, and the Los Angeles rock core band Guilt by Association (MTV Battle for Ozzfest (2004)). In 2013, Star's early recordings finally saw the light of day. The album "Generation Zero," a live EP, "Live From Hollywood," and a single "Twenty Seventeen." A music video for the song "Eddie Star 2017 (2014)," was released to promote the re-issues, featuring a special appearance by former MTV VJ Jesse Camp. The same year, in July, Star debuted his new band JoyBox at artist William Quigley's East Hampton art show, "The Pleasurist." In 2015, JoyBox released the long-awaited album, "Informal Deviance (13 Sexsational Songs)," and disbanded after a string of club dates. Star recently moved into producing and directing films, and released the short film clip "The Center of the Universe (2018)," in 2018, and a music video for his single, "Eddie Star: Science Fiction/Double Feature (2019)" in October of 2019. Star's music stands to reach a new audience in 2020 with Philip Paul Kelly's Off-Broadway Musical "Rockquiem for A Wrestler - A Musical (2019)." The musical inspired by the life of WWE Champion Wrestler, Ivan Koloff, features ten songs from Star's catalog.
