Régis Dubois grew up in a working class environment near Marseille (France) before studying at the University of Aix-en-Provence where he obtained a PhD in cinema. He then published many books on the 7th Art including "The Afro-Americans cinema" (2005), "Hollywood, movies and ideology" (2008 - translated into Chinese), "Drive-in & Grindhouse cinema" (2017), "Martin Scorsese: a biography" (2019) or "Spike Lee, a controversial filmmaker" (2019). Teacher in cinema history in the South of France, he also produces numerous reports (on rock, boxing, street art ...), self-produced documentaries (on "race movies" or grindhouse cinema) as well as short fiction films (including "WAR" in 2020 and "Frérot" in 2021).
