Koya Kamura is a Japanese filmmaker and director known for his work in the film industry. He is credited with an innovative approach to filmmaking, and has gained recognition for his ability to combine traditional elements of Japanese cinema with modern techniques. A graduate of Paris VII Film University before studying at Keio University in Tokyo, he began his career in France at VIACOM Group (MTV, GameOne) in 2007 and later joined the Walt Disney Company in 2008 as Creative Producer and Director. Still with the company in 2020, Koya worked on the development of Disney+'s first scripted content. Since 2010, parallel to his tenure at Disney, he has directed and served as Art Director for several production companies and brands, including Adidas, Redbull, L'Oréal, Nokia, Citroën and Ballantines. Koya Kamura's fiction directorial debut came with his short film Homesick in 2019, set in the Fukushima exclusion zone, which garnered praise and awards at major international film festivals, including a selection for the French Academy Awards (César) in 2021. In 2023, Koya directed his first feature film, Winter in Sokcho, starring French A-list actor Roschdy Zem and Bella Kim, shot in Korea.
