Born on 18 November 2004, Zarel Smith has been creating independent films since 2013 alongside his two brothers, later adopting better acting skills and editing and filming software in early 2017. Smith played minor roles in the films First Bite (2018) and Cutlery (2019) for his film school in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Although Smith is homeschooled, he has attended multiple drama, filmmaking and theatre classes and courses. Smith went on to star in the film InterYet to Come (2019), which was selected as a finalist for the 2019 edition of the annual Childnet Film Competition on internet safety, placing second. He was present at the ceremony. Smith continued his minor roles for independent school films, including [title=tt12059466] and [title=tt12261962], and created more independent films, such as [title=tt12846002] and his personal "magnum opus" [title=tt12497432]. Smith has also created two very lengthy abstract feature-films, Soothing Ring of Fire (2019) his first feature length film, which consists of ten hours and thirty-four minutes of slow motion footage of an unchanging view of an electronic heater fan, and with no conventional narrative or characters, largely reducing the experience of cinema to the passing of time, and [title=tt12013222], a video of people walking for 2 hours and 7 minutes, looped over and over again until it cuts off and ends after exactly 1,800 minutes (30 hours) of runtime.
