Dustan j. Hlady

New York, Los Angeles and Paris have been romanticized to death. In late January 2017 dustan j. hlady (lower-case even at the beginning of a sentence) made a pledge. He had left a screening of a film, shot locally, set in the states. It was one of many films that dustan would call "lack of inspiration dressed as homage". Outside the viewing room, kneeling in the snow, he pledged to spend the rest of his life, telling stories of Saskatchewan people, set and filmed in Saskatchewan. Since his Damascus Road experience he has told stories about young lonely housewives, television fanatics, First Nation youth, impoverished criminals and Young Adult bible studies. All these stories are distinct, unique and magnify a corner of the universe too often forgotten and ignored in film.
