Michael Fenton Crenshaw was born and brought up in the Lewisham area of South East London. In the mid 1990's he started making short films and was part of the South East London Avant-Garde Cartel, a group of poets, photographers, musicians, artists and filmmakers based at The Albany in Deptford. In 1996 he co-produced the film Beat Is Dead with Kenton Elbert Jnr, who he still works with to this day. Beat Is Dead was filmed in and around the New Cross area of London. It became notorious at the time for its graphic depiction of heroin abuse and addiction. It was shot on 16mm film, but it has since been lost. He made his first feature length film, The Left Hand Path in 2014 and completed The Left Hand Trilogy in 2021. Michael now lives in the Dartford area of Kent, England.
