Sean Hollins was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He worked in the mail room of the law firm Sidley Austin in Chicago before joining the Army in 2007. Sean served as a infantry rifleman with 1-26 Infantry Battalion based out of Ft. Hood, Texas. Sean received a serious brain injury and multiple physical wounds after the vehicle he was driving was struck by an anti-tank mine in the Korengral Valley in North Eastern Afghanistan. He was evacuated to Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany and then to the Brooke Army Medical Center in only a few days.
