Andrew Klein was born in 1999 in Rapid City, South Dakota, and raised in Bismarck/Mandan, North Dakota. When he was 17 years old he began working for the local community television station, Dakota Media Access, where he worked behind the scenes on the Dakota Film Festival. When he was 18, he connected with a network of local filmmakers and began writing and directing short films, often handling other aspects of production such as producing, editing, and composing as well. These short films were screened and awarded locally, and Klein became one of the youngest filmmakers in his community to be shown in the local circuit. At age 21, the short film he made before going off to school, Major Robinson, received international recognition in over a dozen festivals, winning as many awards and being nominated for several more. Klein is a 2021 BFA graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead.
