Josh Sanders was born in Exeter, Devon on the 15th of January 1998. The oldest of two children, he attended St Wilfrid's School in Exeter before moving onto Blundell's School in Tiverton where he began to study drama. After graduating from Sixth Form he began to work in various cafes while pursuing his dream of acting and began to secure roles in plays and musicals. In 2019, Sanders performed as a background artist in Sam Mendes' war epic 1917. Later that same year he successfully became a member of The National Youth Film Academy after staring in their short film, The Culture Club, which premiered at The Birmingham Film Festival. At the beginning of 2020 Sanders, along with several other National Youth Film Academy alumni, co-founded FiveJay Productions, a production company that write, direct and produce short and feature length films. Sanders serves as an actor, writer, producer and director on their films.
