Maryam Zarei

She was born in Iran. She has a BFA in Theatre directing and a MFA in Theatre Practice. she started her career as a theatre director in 2008, mostly with experiments in radio theatre live performances. She has won several awards for her works in radio theatre and radio drama. She is interested in experimental theatre and she tries to examine different qualities of sound in each of her directing pieces. Magralen is her first Film premiered in Generation Kplus competition of the 69th Berlin International Film Festival and also screened in some other prestigious film festivals and awarded or nominated in some of them. She recently made her second film "Bone" in January 2021, and also her third film "From the Painter's View" in October 2021. She is also known as Maryam Zarei, however, she decided to go with Goli, the name of her childhood and family memories.
