Andy Sturm is a German director, writer and producer. Born in rural Roding, two hours away from Munich, he grew up being mainly interested in sports and movies. While studying business economics, he developed a strong passion for writing and photography and won his first photography award only three months after picking up a camera. Though highly ambitious in both writing and photography and secretly dreaming of becoming a filmmaker by the time of his graduation, Sturm could not find a job in a creative field after college. So he took the seemingly most creative job that he could get and began working as a manager in fashion retail. Very shortly after taking the job, however, Sturm already realized that he won't like it, and put all of his focus on growing his creative skills in his spare time. Less than two years later and after quitting several retail-management jobs, he finally decided to follow his passions and became a freelance photographer and writer. Very shortly, he was able to achieve his first successes as some of his editorials and interviews were published in prestigious photography and art magazines. In April 2019, Sturm published his first novel, "Down & Dirty", a contemporary story about a young man and his problems in dealing with stardom and success. Though not a success financially, the publishing of the novel gave Sturm the courage to pursue his highest ambition - becoming a filmmaker, something the movie buff has dreamed about since his earliest childhood. Never seen a film-school from the inside and with no connections in the industry, Sturm set his mind on doing a short movie to gain a foothold on becoming a filmmaker. After one and a half years of working on it, Sturm's first short film "BAIL" - that he wrote, directed, and produced -will premiere on festivals in autumn 2020. He lives in Regensburg, Germany, with his fiance.
