Gökhan Yavuzel

Gökhan Yavuzel is a Author, Poet and Freelance Editor. He was born on December 21, 1992 in Suruc is a district of Sanliurfa. The author, who completed this primary and secondary education in the same city. However he graduated from the department of business Administration at Anadolu University in Edirne. He resided in different cities including Sanliurfa, Istanbul, Mersin and Edirne. The author's first piece of work was a book named "Sahipsiz Siirler", which was published by the "Sokak Kitap" publishing house in 2015. Furthermore, Yavuzel's second work, which was named ''Katiller Hep Yalnizdir'' published by the ''Kutlu Yayinevi''. Katiller Hep Yalnizdir is consisting of short stories , essays and poems. Both of the books were sold throughout Turkey and the Northern Cyprus. Both books were among the best sellers. Yavuzel was awarded as the young best author in Cyprus in 2016. Yavuzel works also as a columnist in a variety of newspapers and literature magazines. In addition to expanding his readership, his succeeded in making a fame for himself in the literary world with the awards he received. The author has been given membership of the International PEN club(is a worldwide association of writers, founded in London in 1921). The author was targeted by the radical politics of the Turkish government due to his political views and activist identity. He had to leave his homeland due to the pressure and threats posed on him by the current Turkish government. The writer has been granted political asylum by the United Kingdom and hence resides and continues his work and studies in the UK.
