During the Thuringian State Church Music Days 2006, Cantor Christian Stötzner was awarded the title of Church Music Director. This particularly honors his commitment to the care of church music at Bach's baptistery, the Georgenkirche in Eisenach, but also as a church music specialist in the superintendent's office. Stötzner has been cantor and organist at the Georgenkirche in Eisenach since December 2002. Here he is responsible for working with the Eisenach Bach Choir and the Kurrende, but also with several children's choirs, the Ambrosius Chamber Orchestra and the Trombone Choir. One focus of his work as a cantor and organist is the performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's works in cantata services and concerts. Born in Leipzig, he was particularly connected to church music as a Thomaner since his fourth school year. From 1988 to 1994 he studied church music in Leipzig and completed additional studies in orchestral conducting and harpsichord. In 1995 he took up his first position as cantor in Leisnig, Saxony.
