Lexi Freiman is the author of acclaimed novel, INAPPROPRIATION, published in the US by Ecco HarperCollins. The novel is a satire on identity politics set at an Australian girls' high school and was longlisted for the New York Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize as well as Australia's most prestigious literary award, The Miles Franklin Prize. The book was reviewed in the New York Times' famous summer round-up and received attention for a stand-out review by Andrea Long Chu in Book Forum. Christian Lorentzen named INAPPROPRIATION one of New York Magazine's top books of 2018. Lexi was recently commissioned to write the pilot of INAPPROPRIATION for Picture Start and is developing a TV spin-off of HBO's High Maintenance as co-head writer with WhiteFalk Films. Her new novel, The Book of Ayn, a satire about Ayn Rand and cancel culture, will be published by Catapult in 2023. Lexi is a graduate of Columbia University's MFA program and was fiction editor at George Braziller for five years before selling her first book and starting to write full time. Before moving to the US, Lexi worked as an actor, mostly for Australia's national Shakespeare company, Bell Shakespeare, where she performed all around the country - most notably as Celia in AS YOU LIKE IT at the Sydney Opera House.
