Samiyah Swann is a Bahamian actress based in Los Angeles. She comes from a blue collar family and is the middle of three children of a gift shop manager mother, and a Police Detective father. After graduating high school in The Bahamas, Samiyah won a scholarship to Elmira College, a private liberal arts college in upstate New York, where she graduated with honors. In between semesters she made ends meet by working as a shark feeder and commercials. Samiyah auditioned for whatever was available and eventually booked her first paid acting role in the film After The Sunset. Immediately after graduation Swann relocated to Los Angeles where she trained with Gloria Gifford. Swann immersed herself in theater with the GGC Theatre Company. Most notably Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors"(Winner Valley Theatre Awards), "Antony and Cleopatra" (Winner NAACP Theatre Awards), and "Much Ado About Nothing" (Winner NAACP Theatre Awards). Samiyah has also performed in the American contemporary works including For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf, Stephen Adly Guirgis' "The Motherfucker With the Hat", Joyce Carol Oates' "I Stand Before You Naked", and Tina Howe's "The Art of Dining"
