Sumiko Braun is a writer, producer, director, and actor best known for her role in the cult classic Sharknado. She has a master's from University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor's from California State University, Long Beach, focusing on ethnic studies and film. Through UCLA's EthnoCommunications program, Sumiko directed and produced the documentary Master of the Sky: The Life and Art of Sam Koji Hale. As a Visual Communications Armed with a Camera fellow, Sumiko directed and produced Heart of Mind, which aired on Comcast's Xfinity On Demand for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and streamed on Chopso. She also produced and acted in the neo-noir thriller This Last Lonely Place, which premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival and screened at Cannes.
