Alvaro Collar (Madrid, 1981) studied Media Studies at the Complutense University of Madrid (2006) and Film Production at Brighton Film School (2008). He is a Ph.D. candidate in Film Theory, Analysis and Documentation at the Complutense University of Madrid and works as Video art and Film teacher for institutions such as ECAM Film School (Madrid, Spain) or Phoenix Brighton Art Gallery (Brighton, UK). He is the creator of pieces such as Centrifuga (Centrifuge, 2007) which won the First MovilFilmFest's Best Original Idea prize and he has also won the Minute Movie Cup twice: in 2009 with Onirica (Oneiric) and in 2006 with Quinta habitacion (Fifth Room) being selected to represent Spain at the UNICA's World Minute Movie Cup 2009 and 2006. He is a founding member of the video art collective Haz! and has been involved working and collaborating with different production companies such as: Giro Guionistas, Producciones Independientes, WE Creative Media or Videorinth. His works has been exhibited worldwide in venues like Medialab Madrid; Noche de Luna Llena, Segovia; Galeria Cruce Contemporaneo; Espacio Menos Uno, NIU Espai Artistic Contemporani, Barcelona: MEM Bilbao, Vallecas Experimental Film Festival; Pamplona Film Festival; CEC Barcelona; World Minute Movie Cup, Daegu, Corea del Sur; Mobilefest, Sao Paulo or Microfilms, Lisboa.
