Sarah grew up feeling unsure and out of place as the middle child of eight. She learned from her mother and started gaining weight at seven years old. As a teenager, Sarah learned that she could make her personality scream louder than her weight. She was class president and was voted prom queen, but struggled to find a dress that fit. A bad breakup in college brought Sarah to her heaviest. In 2007, Sarah was in a severe car accident. Her doctors attribute her miraculous recovery to her positive attitude and unstoppable mind power. Sarah had lost a significant amount of weight from the trauma and met her husband, Jason, while still in a wheelchair, never telling him of her previous obesity. Shortly after their marriage, they found out that Sarah was pregnant, but she lost the baby in June 2008. This was more traumatic than Sarah could have ever imagined and she turned back to food for comfort. All of the weight plus more came back quickly, leaving her feeling embarrassed and deceitful in her own marriage. They wanted a family more than anything, but couldn't because of Sarah's weight. Finally in May of 2010, Sarah found out that she was pregnant again, but lost the baby in July due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. This required emergency surgery to save Sarah's life. Though heartbreaking, this has motivated Sarah to get fit once and for all and be healthy enough to start a family.
