Cody James Burk was born to Ruth Wooldridge (Rennells) and Mark Burk. Cody grew up in the town of Knoxville, Ia. His parents divorced when Cody was 5 years old and so most of his childhood included moving from one place to the next. As a child he was very aware of what was happening within his family and it had a lasting effect on him. It wasn't until the age of 18 that Cody decided that an career in acting would be something of interest to him. His first feature length film appearance was that of a "bad boy" in the David Mickey Evans film, Smitty. This was Codys first film and the auditions he went through for the film were his very first real auditions. Funny enough, when Cody went to the second call back for the film he was greeted by David Mickey Evans himself, unfortunately he didn't realize he was face to face with a childhood idol. It wasn't until filming started that Cody realized David was in fact the Director/Writer of The Sandlot. With a star studded cast, including the likes of Louis Gossett Jr. and Peter Fonda, He was more than pleased to be apart of the project. Within the few years that followed Cody would go on to work in a handful of short films out of Des Moines, Ia.
