Over the past 25 years, Jean-François Porlier has worked his way across Canada from Quebec's North Shore to Alberta, via Tunisia, the United Kingdom and James Bay, taking turns as a theater and television actor and director or as a radio host, journalist and producer. Since 2008, his appearances have been more frequent on the big and small screen. In 2011, he won the coveted role of real life radio host André Arthur in the mini-series "Malenfant ". In 2013, he played on the big screen, an intense hotel owner, Gaston Biard, in the historical drama " La maison du pêcheur ". In 2016, he was Detective Larrue in the 6th season of TVA's O'. In 2019, he appeared as a ruthless union boss Jocelyn Lapointe in Radio-Canada's hit police drama "District 31". Since 2016, he's been playing the menacing detective Mac Caskill in the 1st , 3rd, 4th and 5th season of Radio-Canada' s historical western " Les Pays d'en haut " or, as it is known in English, " True North ".
