Gabriela Bonomo is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started acting and singing at the age of 11 and has been in professional theatre since she was 17. In 2002 she received first place for "Renúncia", a short monologue she wrote and performed in the Circuito Carioca de Esquetes. Since then she been in Hamlet (as Ophelia), Lady Lázaro (two person original play based on Sylvia Plath's life and work), Quincas Borba (adapted from Machado de Assis' novel) and Kiyoko (by Yukio Mishima). She has worked as assistant director and dramaturg to the Royal Shakespeare Company and BufoMecânica's production of "Two Roses for Richard the Third" at the World Shakespeare festival in 2012. Work in film and movies include two collaborations with Peter Azen as actress and part of the creative team for "Beauty #1" and "The Decline of Ophelia". She had a principal role in "So Hard to Forget" directed by Malu DeMartino and her own short film "Severina" was at the Cannes Short Film Corner 2010. As a performer she has taken part in works by Brazilian visual artists Tunga, Jarbas Lopes and Ernesto Neto. She has a B.A. in Performing Arts from PUC-Rio and is a candidate for the M.F.A. in Acting at the New School for Drama (class of 2016), NY while collaborating in projects for film and theatre.
