James is a wonderful, high concept, surrealist storyteller. James loves to blend shock-and-awe in his cinematic storytelling with a profound love of comedy and film tropes, especially those from the 1980s and 1990s. It brings a combined sense of freshness and familiarity to his work, a blend he has used brilliantly in his highly varied and prolific music video career. And more recently into his commercials work. His began working in film as Stephan Elliott's directors assistant on 'A Few Best Men' in 2011. James then moved on to win two Vimeo Staff Pick awards for his first short film "The Keeper'" and action-packed music video "The Grid". He has since directed national TVC campaigns for "Hello Sunday Morning", "TK Maxx" and "Charles Sturt University" in his native Australia. James' new short film "Proceeds Of Crime" is now screening at festivals internationally and he continues to shoot promos regularly. He is also plotting his first self-written feature. His latest step into the that world recently saw him directing 2nd Unit on Nekromancer, an action horror feature produced by Andrew Mason (The Matrix).
