Born and raised in the frozen tundra of Minnesota, Patrick studied at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and Boston University's School of Fine Arts. He doesn't talk like William H. Macy from the movie Fargo, but can when pressed (or bribed with lefsa). While in Minneapolis, Patrick played the lead in a stage production of The Magic Flute with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, directed by Dominique Serrand, a devotee of Ecole Jacques Lecoq. In addition to singing on such stages as the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Opera, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Patrick has sung for Margaret Thatcher, the Chicago Bears, L.A. Lakers, and commercials for Microsoft and Nike. He also sang on the The Metropolitan Opera's Ring Cycle, which won a GRAMMY in 2013 for Best Opera Recording. His film credits include a featured role in Shawn Christensen's film Before I Disappear (based on his Academy Award-winning short film Curfew), which is scheduled for release in 2014. In addition, he recently wrapped a leading role in the short film Randy Doe. Patrick's television work includes appearances in Steven Soderbergh's upcoming mini-series The Knick, as well as Law And Order, The Blacklist, Girls, Hostages, Louis and Blue Bloods. Patrick has worked with such acclaimed directors as Robert Altman, Baz Luhrman and Andrei Serban. He has played revolutionaries, farmers, princes, peasants, painters and poets. He has been married, molested in the shower, and murdered (stabbed, shot in battle, executed by firing squad, and shot in a duel). He has even suffered the blows of a cruel reviewer (who hasn't?), but remains undaunted in his pursuit of deep and impactful work.
