Chaka Balamani is an American, Actor, Director, Producer and Writer. He has acted in over 30 films since 2000. Nominated as Emerging Artist 2012 by the Federal City Alum for Film & Acting, -Filmgrade Magazines Rising Stars in Entertainment 2012. Chaka Balamani is a Certified Television Producer at DCTV in Washington DC. After intensive training in TV Production with Bob Thomas VP of Operations at DCTV, Chaka went on to also become a certified Field Technician in Camera, Audio, and Lighting. Immediately following his training in 2010 Chaka began production of his first Television Pilot "Reel Critics TV", and continued to develop two additional Pilots "Tailgate Kings" which films at every Washington Redskin Home Game at Fed Ex Field, and a third Pilot "Beast of The East" a NFC East Football Coverage Radio show filmed to air on Television. Chaka started working in Media in 1999 at the satellite network America's Voice in the Capitol Hill area of Washington DC, where he was a Studio Camera Operator and a Studio Technician. Chaka went on to pursue his career in Acting in 2000 where he made his on screen debut in the Paula Matabane directed short film "Hair Like Wool Feet Like Bronze", and his stage debut with the 2000 No Nonsense Production of "A Choir Rehearsal". After taking a break from acting to focus on Television Production, Chaka returned to the Silver Screen, Stage and Television in a big way. 2011 was very productive for Chaka Balamani, as he has acted in over 23 films including "When Beautiful People Do Ugly Things" which was featured at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival.. Chaka Balamani also returned to the stage in 2011 acting in "The Secret Lives of Ministry Wives" and a critically acclaimed performance as the Lead Character Malachai in the play "SEED" which featured at the 2011 DC Black Theater Festival. Most recently Chaka acted in the nationally televised Adidas Commercial with Redskin QB Robert Griffin III (RG3). Chaka Balamani and his wife Hope Balamani are Co-CEO's of Harbor View Filmworks a production company based out of Fort Washington MD. In 2011 Chaka started his Film Production Company Harbor View Filmworks and with a Production Team of 64 filmed his first Short "Bravo Marsha" in which He Wrote, Directed, Starred in, and Co-Produced with his wife. Chaka is dedicated to focusing on socially relevant material that challenges the audience to explore new ideas, beliefs and analyses of society, as he is currently working as Director on the feature full length film "A Cougar's Heart" A 2013 MalaCom Production , and he is currently in Production of his Trilogy Short Films "Passion at 52". In addition to Television and Film Chaka Balamani will be entering the arena of Webseries this spring and is currently Writing, Directing, and Starring in "Dr. J. Peddy" a new comedic Webseries which films in Downtown Washington DC, and is entered in the 2013 Comedy Central Pilot Contest.
