Jose L. Marin is a Senior Compositor, Visual Effects Society NY Board Member, Foundry Certified Nuke Trainer, Visual Effects Mentor for the Emile Cohl Atelier Student Success and Equity Coalition, and member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. His background includes over a decade specializing in feature film, episodic, and commercial projects of all sizes. He has worked on almost every part of the visual effects pipeline from script breakdown to final shot render as well as, most recently, on-set supervision. His contributions as Lead Digital Artist on HBO's The Deuce earned him a Visual Effects Society Award nomination in 2019. Some of his recent credits include Hulu's Monsterland, Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and HBO's Succession. While he has lived and worked in the greater NYC area since 2013, his multi-coast career in visual effects and previous military service as a United States Marine has allowed him to spend time learning from and appreciating several unique regions and cultures. Always on the lookout to continue learning and giving back by teaching and connecting artists, Jose is driven by the goal to strengthen our community by passing on lessons learned about what we do and why we do it in order to better understand where our culture as artists, mentors, and even as an industry, comes from. It is his belief that from this understanding we continue to push our boundaries and seek to shatter expectations.
