Born into a family of musical prowess, surrounded by outstanding talent, Marvin Winans Jr., the son of Gospel greats Marvin and Vickie Winans, and nephew to BeBe and CeCe Winans, had no low expectations placed on him. Marvin, now in his early 30's, has made his own mark and definitely come into his own. Starting at the age of 18, Marvin signed a major record deal with Epic records with his cousins as the group, Winans Phase 2. After selling a quarter of a million albums and being nominated for a Grammy Award by the age of 19, Marvin knew there was more he wanted to accomplish. He quickly embarked upon a vision for an all-encompassing entertainment company, M2 Entertainment, which he believes he was divinely inspired to build. Marvin, quickly, signed several producers, writers and artists to his M2 label, all by the age of 21. Several, of which, have gone on to be very successful in the music industry. As CEO, Marvin was in a position of not only artist, producer and writer but, entrepreneur. As a producer and writer, Marvin's work would be nominated for several awards including Grammy Awards, Stellar Awards, Dove Awards and more. After a very successful stint with Winans Phase 2, traveling and singing around the globe, including Germany, England and Holland with even a special appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the group, for various reasons decided to resolve their label relationship with Epic, compelling Marvin to work on his own solo project, Image of A Man, which in 2007, he released, on his own, M2 Entertainment label. Marvin's album found success with distribution in Walmarts and Target chains across the country and Marvin was right where he wanted to be. The release of his award-nominated single, "You Never Let Me Down", from that album, was ground-breaking and was complemented with an award winning, highly cinematic, movie-like, music video. This video defined him as a trendsetter and established him as video producer in his own right, setting him up for his next gig, movie producer. In 2010, Marvin and Joel Kapity, the director of Marvin's, "You Never Let Me Down", reconvened to create a film, entitled, Dreams, in which Marvin wore many hats; including, executive producer, producer, and for the first time, film composer. For Marvin, Dreams, which has found distribution through Lions Gate Films, was a lesson in "all-things-film", from acting, to the business of music supervision. Developing and producing multiple television and film projects and managing the careers of successful talent, Marvin is cementing himself in the film business and continuing to expand his reach into music, television and all facets of the entertainment industry through his company M2 Entertainment. No matter what Marvin is doing, whether as an entrepreneur, an executive or as a content creator, quality and excellence should be expected.
