Dexter Hemedez

Dexter Hemedez is a Filipino screenwriter who is now based in Los Angeles. He was an Episode Writer for various daily series in ABS-CBN, the largest broadcasting network in the Philippines. One of the series that he wrote entitled "Be Careful With My Heart" became a huge phenomenon as it marked milestones in television ratings, spawned best-selling merchandises, boosted advertising revenues of ABS-CBN and was distributed worldwide. After a decade of writing soap operas and feature films in the Philippines, Dexter directed, wrote and produced his debut feature entitled "1st Sem" which won major awards in various international film festivals. Because of its themes and universal appeal, the family-comedy feature received critical acclaim during its artistic exhibitions in Asia, Europe and North America. Touted as a gem of a small film with a big heart, the film also served as a tool for character formation among adolescents in the Philippines. It is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Dexter continues to develop concepts and write scripts, most of which are centered with the experiences of Filipino immigrants in the United States.
