Mayte Carrasco is a documentary director and writer. In 2010 she founded Big Story Films, a scripted and non -scripted content creation for film and television. Recently, she has co-directed the archive series "Afghanistan the Wounded Land" (2020) for NDR, ARTE and Al Jazeera, and produced and directed short documentary Fragmentos (2019), in permanent exhibition in Colombian National Museum in Bogotá made with the FARC weapons. She comes from the world of war reporting and covered the most dangerous conflicts of the last 10 years such as Afghanistan, Georgia, Mali; and especially in the Middle East, (Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq), standing out for his stories told since the Syrian conflict, which earned her the IRIS Award from the Spanish Film and Television Academy, the Best Correspondent from the International Press Centre (CIP), or the Emilio Castelar Prize for the defense of rights and freedoms, among other recognition. A well-known lecturer in Universities like Science Po in France, she is an expert in the Islamic world and gives talks and teach to understand the Arab world and Jihadist Terrorism. She is an expert in Security and Defence and in Peace Studies by the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace, and has been jury member of prestigious international documentary festivals.
